ONEPURE Cup COVID-19 Global Essay Competition (30 October 2020, First Round) NZCFS have been invited by NZ Messenger, the leading Chinese language newspaper out of Chrustchurch, to co/sponsor the ONEPURE CUP writing competition about experiences of Covid. ... The COVID-19 epidemic is the most serious challenge to mankind since the Second World War and will surely go down in history for its profound impact on the world's health, economy, politics, culture and even way of life. It is gratifying to note that, after much hard work, the epidemic has now been brought under control in some countries, although in others, people are still struggling with it. Whether you are a medical worker, civil servant, community worker, a journalist who has been reporting on the frontline of the epidemic, a patient who has been treated, a person who has been quarantined, a business person whose business has been affected, a person who has been working/studying at home, a foreigner who has been stranded in another country, as well as the cultural differences and conflicts that occurred in the process, there are many stories worth documenting about each of them. Let us document them together and leave a valuable legacy for ourselves and for the world. 1st Prize (X2): New Zealand ONEPURE Water Voucher (worth NZ$1,000) 2nd Prize (X4): One night in the Presidential Suite at Hackthorne Garden Luxury Hotel (Christchurch, New Zealand) (value NZ$538) 3rd Prizes (X6): Half-page advertising space in the New Zealand Messenger (worth NZ$498) The above prizes are non-cashable, and you are responsible for your own income tax. A special thanks to Michael Hart, who on August 18, donated 2240 masks () to ‘The Community Builders NZ Trust’ at the Otari Kai Village, South Auckland, as advised by Efeso Collins. 5120 masks were donated, in July, by the"Sichuan Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries SPPAFFC" (Sichuan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office SPFAO). They were consigned to vice-president Miao Fan in Hamilton (Hamilton and Chengdu recently established a sister city ...connection!) This is in the spirit of NZCFS heroine Kathleen Hall, who made significant contribution to community health in war torn in Hebei Province, China.
