It was dental day for little Stevie today! It really highlights the importance of getting regular dental checks, despite most of her teeth looking pretty good, the ones you can't see in the photos were in desperate need of coming out! This is only 11 months after her last dental procedure too. If you have a smaller breed dog I highly recommend having 6 monthly dental checks to ensure there are no issues The gold standard for prevention once a dental has been carried out is ...brushing their teeth on a daily basis. I know this isn't always practical or easy but it's the best you do for them :) If you are looking for alternative ways to help your dogs dental health I would recommend checking out the following page for recommend treats and food that can help and that have been certified by the Veterinary Oral Health Council (don't be fooled by lots of other products on the market) http://www.vohc.org/VOHCAcceptedProductsTable_Dogs.pdf Dr. Becs

Avocados!! Are they toxic? For some species yes such as horses, ruminants and rabbits.. But dogs can eat them (always get rid of that pip first) and LOVE them.. they are however high in fat so only use as a treat and don’t feed if you have a dog susceptible to pancreatitis or other GI issues
